Day5 - Leg2 - Bots+Zim - Hit the dirt

This is the daily blog from Africa4Adventure.com, in particular a short series on the Botswana and Zimbabwe - Giraffe Motorbike tour we attended during July 2011. Check out the original plans and route for the trip here.

Wow - onto the Dirt after all these many miles of travel for the first time for real! That's always my favourite part of the trip. The most fun part and the part where you get to truly experience real rural Africa for what it is.

We blasted onto the dirt and went for some distance in all the excitement before stopping to let our tyres down to the correct pressure. Initially the road was quite rocky so in a way it was a good thing so as not to get any "smileys" on the rim. Later we stopped, organized the correct tyre pressure and after that it was just miles and miles of the most awesome scenery around. The Motopos is famous for its rocky hills with rocks that look like they are balancing on top of one another. The roads wind between the hills and are relatively flat for the most part (there are a few steep bits). Perfect for adventure biking.
More South and Southern African motor cycle tours on our list of tour route summaries are available, where we explore these sorts of motorcycle tour routes. Just choose one of our events and reserve yourself a place on one of the future motorcycle adventure safari events.
