Day4 - Leg12 - Bots+Zim - 11 people in taxi

This is the daily blog from Africa4Adventure.com, in particular a short series on the Botswana and Zimbabwe - Giraffe Motorbike tour we attended during July 2011. Check out the original plans and route for the trip here.

We arrived in Bulawayo at about 7pm and finally found the hotel at about 8pm. The place was much bigger than most of us thought and our Hotel Rio was on the outskirts in a subburb somewhere. It had been a long day and given a chance most of us would have just gone to bed as it had been a very long day already getting up at 5am, but one of the guys had some friends here and they had organised to meet up and have an evening on the town in their local pub.

So we all had some beer to plan the evening, first outside at the bikes as we arrived, then later in the hotel bar while people took turns to get ready. Not knowing the town and not wanting to drink and drive or ride in the dark, we booked one taxi for 9 people. It arrived but already had a driver and a passenger in it and it was one of those small 8 people carrier cars. Well we figured we could get 11 people in there with a bit of a squeeze and boy it was a squeeze. We had a very good night, with some nice food and all made it back in one piece, with a plan to do some good off-road riding to the Giraffe Rally tomorrow.
More South and Southern African motor cycle tours on our list of tour route summaries are available, where we explore these sorts of motorcycle tour routes. Just choose one of our events and reserve yourself a place on one of the future motorcycle adventure safari events.
