Day2 - Leg7 - Bots+Zim - Giraffe spotting

This is the daily blog from, in particular a short series on the Botswana and Zimbabwe - Giraffe tour we attended during July 2011. Check out the plans and route for the trip here.
More South and Southern African motor cycle tours on our list of tour route summaries are available, where we explore these sorts of motorcycle tour routes. Just choose one of our events and reserve yourself a place on one of the future motorcycle adventure safari events.

Not too much further down the road, as you can see by the smoke in the air still, we saw a few Giraffes close to the side of the road, and strangely heading into the direction of the fire and not away from it as you may expect.

This wasn't the reason we called this the Giraffe Tour, although it added to it. the reason we called it the Giraffe tour was because we were going to a rally called the Giraffe Rally in Zimbabwe and taking the scenic route to get there.

A majestic giraffe crosses the road
Someone else gets this picture of the person taking the previous picture
After it had crossed the road it was going towards the fire
We all stopped at the Giraffe crossing place to bunch up the pack again & rest
Further down the road - more giraffe in the open fields
Three of them all facing one direction
