Karoo - Day4 Leg8 - Game ride

This part of the journey saw a lot of Bontebok, with some Springbok.  We had to keep riding really slowly and as quietly as possible to avoid chasing them away, particularly the Sprinkbok, they are very skittish. Without a zoom lens with us it was difficult enough getting pictures, but if they run away you'd see absolutely nothing at all. in this section of the valley we were really lucky and saw group after group of buck grazing together, naturally, left and right of the road for miles.

This is the daily blog from Africa4Adventure.com. A short series on the Karoo Motorbike tour we took on during September 2011. See the plans for the trip blog here: Planning a 6 day 2500km route through the Karoo maximising dirt
More South and Southern African motor cycle tours on our list of tour route summaries are available, where we explore these sorts of motorcycle tour routes. Just choose one of our events and reserve yourself a place on one of the future motorcycle adventure safari events.

The Bontebok seemed far more inquisitive than the others had been

Coming down the hill nice and quiet

It was a fantastic place to ride

Big heard of animals to the right in the distance

More beasts a little closer

We carried on as slowly and quietly as possible

Stopped to chat and get some pictures

Bontebok

Bontebok and Springbok

More animals in the plains below

Zooming in from the same spot showing the general area, buck on the hill near road sign

Riding and enjoying - this had been the best part of the day so far

More Blesbok
More again
