Second day - 4th leg - Via Vermaaklikheid towards Stilbaai

This continues the series of my Motorcycle Adventure travels from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth which is the first goal, over a two day period. Details of the whole trip here.

From Witsand the next leg was toward Stilbaai via a small village called Vermaaklikheid. The name means "Entertainment" translated from Afrikaans to English.

This leg of the journey was interesting both in terms of the wildlife and the fauna I saw along the way. In the beginning there were loads of Ostrich Farms on the IOstrich Eco trail, which I stopped at to get a few pictures. One of the challenges of getting nice photos of Ostriches is that the motorcycle noise scares them away. As you come over the hill they just run away in mass panic.

Then I came into the small village of Vermaaklikheid which was very picturesque and arty. I saw a few things I'd liked to have stopped and explored but was now running out of time. one was the Restaurant in the middle of the village.

After that, as I was driving along the long stretch of dirt road parallel to the sea, a small buck who had been grazing next to the road get startled by the motorcycle noise. It ran out into the road and along the road in-front of the bike for about 500m. I just wish i could have captured that on film. I thought of switching on the helmet cam in case it happened again, but soon realised that there was about a one in a million chance it would happen again on the same road.

Beautiful dense Fynbos
This was such a pretty ride
Miles and miles of nature
Well by now it was 12:30 and I had only done about one fifth of the distance to Port Elizabeth, so had to crack on.
