Day3 - Leg7 - Calitzdorp - Gamkaskloof Dam

This is the daily blog from Africa4Adventure.com, in particular a short series on the Calitzdorp Port and Wine festival we attended during June 2011.
More South and Southern African motor cycle tours on our list of tour route summaries are available, where we explore these sorts of motorcycle tour routes. Just choose one of our events and reserve yourself a place on one of the future motorcycle adventure safari events.

After riding past the Lodge, we decided to head on down to the dam some 10's of kilometres away just to see it. it was a most interesting and wonderful place. The sense of solitude, openness and nature was overpowering. This place has hardly changed since the dawn of time.

We did discover that it was possible rent out small rooms at the dam, mostly used by walkers, hickers and local fishermen coming to the dam.

Quite amazing to find a dam like this in the semi-desert - so full too
On the way there - so natural

All the plants are fill to bursting with all the rain the area had had recently

Glimpse of the dam over the bush

Adventure biker's kind of road
