Day2 - Leg4 - Bots+Zim - Doggie tie downs

This is the daily blog from Africa4Adventure.com, in particular a short series on the Botswana and Zimbabwe - Giraffe tour we attended during July 2011. Check out the plans and route for the trip here.
More South and Southern African motor cycle tours on our list of tour route summaries are available, where we explore these sorts of motorcycle tour routes. Just choose one of our events and reserve yourself a place on one of the future motorcycle adventure safari events.

Doggie was busy earning himself BIG beer fines for that evening, because every 10km or so, he had to stop and save all his kit from falling of the bike. The culprit was the sleeping bag (ex army issue from the 70's or 80's) and the huge spare either full or empty petrol cannister, both of which were flapping around and almost getting in the wheels!

After the third or fourth attempt we all decided to try and step in and help him tie the stuff down. Doggie came close a few times to just throwing the sleeping bag away, and cursing and whipping the bike with the tie downs! One of the interesting memories of the trip for all of us anyway.

Doggies stop number three or four
Same stop different view
Time to get some curios as little presents to take home
The Wimpy - real clean and tidy surprise for breakfast compared to what we were expecting

All the bikes parked outside the Wimpy
The Open road
Sorting out Doggie again!
This was on a stretch of bad old road while they build the new road to the left
All of us stepping in to save the kit and Doggies temper!
