Karoo - Day2 Leg3 - Old Post Road

The previous evening while sitting in the bar and chatting to locals, we asked then where a good place to ride would be, given that we were heading towards Frasierberg. They immediately said "Die Ou Pos Weg", which in English is "The Old Post Road". They explained how we would get there by turning off to Rhenoster valley, just after the observatory so we did that and found it to be a magnificent road for 180km of pure Karoo wildness and the odd farm along the way. If we counted ten farms along the way that was a lot, probably less!

This is the daily blog from Africa4Adventure.com. A short series on the Karoo Motorbike tour we took on during September 2011. See the plans for the trip blog here: Planning a 6 day 2500km route through the Karoo maximising dirt
More South and Southern African motor cycle tours on our list of tour route summaries are available, where we explore these sorts of motorcycle tour routes. Just choose one of our events and reserve yourself a place on one of the future motorcycle adventure safari events.
Soon after turning off onto the Old Post road we found a river

Coming up to the turnoff on the main road to Frasierberg

Rhino valley

Flowing water in the Karoo - unheard of
Charles pulls up

Full too

Blasting along

Again amazing flowers hiding all over

Some even growing in the road - thats how you tell how well used the road is!
