There had been about 6 hours of tar now since we left the city and except for the one stop in Colesburg for lunch, we had not stopped much before now. We saw the Keg & Springbok pub and it was unanimous, pull over for a beer! As usual we still had some way to go before we reached the destination and not a lot of daylight left, but we figured a quick beer would be Ok.
Once inside we started chatting to two guys who work on the roads and they warned us of many stop and go's on the tar coming up. They also recommended that we take the back route out of Middelburg on the dirt because it was an awesome ride and would go through game farms, etc. So we re-routed our Garmins and set off. Not far down the road the beer called for a stop. It was great to be back on the dirt roads again after all the tar and traffic till now.
