Day 17 - Leg 10 - Meet Quad-bikes on return

Then... next minute we me these two chaps (one not there yet) on serious Quad bikes

I asked them to do a "show us what you got?" and he obliged

But this didn't look as good as what I saw as he came round the corner towards us initially slipping and sliding in four wheel drifting sideways mode at 100km an hour!

Day 17 - Leg 9 - Meet some locals at the falls

Day 17 - Leg 8 - Waterfall views

Once we reached the Maletsunyane falls it was one of the best surprises I could have imagined. It was breathtakingly beautiful and because it was so deserted and remote we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.

The gorge opened up and was in a large "L" shape going off in a wide panorama that you could not take in in one look at it. You had to look from left to right. This is where they do the abseiling, check out the video on You tube of it below.

As we appraoched we could see it was going to be a very tall waterfall

Day 17 - Leg 7 - Harder track than it looks

Once we reached the waterfall on the road, there was a track leading down to the actual view point. Rob was in front and started going down on the bike so Charles followed him. Of course with a pillion on the back and being on a bigger 1150 it was more difficult so Charles passed him and carried on going.

Rob then decided not to carry on and just walk the rest so it would be easier all round, and when Charles realised it was already beginning to get into more rocky and into slightly steeper terrain. Feeling weak with a cold coming on, he decided not to try and ride the bike down to the bottom or try and turn it round but just to walk it round to get out. It needed two people to help as the road was in a bit of a rut and not as easy as these pictures make it out to be! (Excuses!!) Anywat we turned the bike around and then left them and walked down to the waterfall.

These two were up to their neck in grass it was so deep! :-)

Day 17 - Leg 6 -Landscape around the falls

Day 17 - Leg 5 - Ride to the Maletsunyane Falls

We set off to the Maletsunyane waterfall around 11am with the sun trying to come out from behind a cluster of clouds. As the day progressed it got more and more sunny. The ride was not a long distance by any means. From the lodge to the waterfall as the crow flies is about 3-4km, but to drive there is a bit of a C shaped road and is in the region of about 10km. So we set off to see the scenerey and not sure what to expect from this "waterfall" that everyone was talking about? After all its just some water falling over a cliff to continue the river below?
